Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how Chandorkar Technologies (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use Vikasit Code — our terminal-native AI coding agent (CLI), desktop applications, web console, and OpenAI-compatible API (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

2. Information We Collect

• Account information. When you sign in, we collect basic profile information from your authentication provider (for example, your GitHub OAuth profile: username, email, and avatar) to create and manage your account.
• Usage and telemetry. The CLI and desktop apps may send anonymous telemetry, including an anonymous device identifier and aggregated command events (which features and commands are used, errors, and performance metrics). Telemetry does not include the contents of your code, files, or prompts.
• API usage and billing. For Pro subscriptions and Go pay-as-you-go usage, we record API request metadata such as model used, token counts, timestamps, and cost, in order to meter usage and process billing.
• Prompts and content. Prompts and content you submit to a hosted Vikasit AI model are processed to generate responses. If you bring your own provider keys (BYOK), that content is sent directly to the third-party provider you configure.
• Support communications. If you contact us, we keep records of the correspondence.

3. How We Use Information

• To provide, operate, and maintain the Service.
• To authenticate you and secure your account.
• To meter usage, calculate costs, and process payments.
• To diagnose problems, improve reliability, and develop new features.
• To respond to your support requests and communicate service updates.
• To comply with legal obligations and prevent abuse.

4. Telemetry Opt-Out

Telemetry is designed to be minimal and anonymous, and you can turn it off at any time. Set either of the following environment variables before running the CLI or desktop app:

• DO_NOT_TRACK=1
• VIKASIT_TELEMETRY=0

When either is set, the Service will not send usage or device telemetry.

5. Third-Party Services

We rely on third parties to deliver the Service, and your information may be processed by them subject to their own privacy policies:

• LLM providers. When you use BYOK providers (such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, Azure, or AWS Bedrock), prompts and content are transmitted to those providers to generate responses.
• Payment processor. Payments for Pro and Go are handled by a third-party payment processor; we do not store full payment card details on our servers.
• Authentication provider. We use GitHub OAuth for sign-in.
• Infrastructure. The hosted Service and Vikasit AI models run on Indian infrastructure.

6. Free Preview Models

Vikasit Code offers “Free Preview” models at no charge. These models are operated by third parties, not by Vikasit — currently OpenCode Zen and Kilo Gateway. Please read this section before using them on code you do not own.

• Your content goes to the operator, not to us. Requests to Free Preview models are sent directly from your own machine to the operator of that model. Vikasit does not receive, process, or store the contents of those requests, and cannot retrieve or delete them on your behalf.
• Operators may use your content to train their services. Their terms permit them to use what you send — including your prompts, the contents of files the assistant reads, and the model’s output — to operate and improve their products. They may also route your request onward to their own upstream providers, who may log it. Do not use Free Preview models with confidential, client-owned, or otherwise restricted source code.
• Sessions may switch operators automatically. If a Free Preview model becomes unavailable or rate limited, Vikasit Code may automatically continue your session on another free operator without prompting you. The switch is shown in the client, and it only ever happens between free models — a paid model is never silently replaced with a free one.
• We record usage totals, not content. So that free usage can be attributed to your workspace, the client reports the model name, provider, and token counts for each Free Preview request. This is subject to the telemetry opt-out in section 4.

Paid Vikasit models are unaffected by this section: they are served by our own infrastructure, and we do not use their contents to train models.

7. Data Retention

We retain account and billing records for as long as your account is active and as required to meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations. Anonymous telemetry is retained in aggregate form. You may request deletion of your account and associated personal data (see Contact).

8. Data Security

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, and to opt out of certain processing. To exercise these rights, contact us using the details below.

10. Children’s Privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, by additional notice.
